Some awards, a recipe, an egg
& a giveaway!

Since I was generously given this award "Nice Matters" it's now my blog duty to give it away. The hard thing is that everyone in my "favorite places to visit" are so deserving of this award. I wanted to pass it along to 4 very special people to me and those are 4 of my students that have been so supportive, so nice and well I'm so excited that they all started blogs of their own so they can share their ART with the world.
You can read more about the Nice Matters award here.
Terry ~ was my first student. She brought friends over to my house to paint and when HL opened ~ really encouraged me to share my ART with more people. NICE NICE NICE!
Kim ~ Kim has been faithful in her ART classes and along with her daughter (stephanie - below) she has started selling her ART and sharing it with others! NICE NICE NICE
Alice ~ Alice has also been faithful in learning and is ever so eager to learn new things so that she can paint them and share them with her family! NICE NICE NICE
Stephanie ~ a young bride to be has also been faithful in her classes and has been commissioned to paint several paintings. Her and her mom (kim - above) get together and paint new things all the time and I'm always anxious to see their new projects. NICE NICE NICE

You ladies have been so nice to spend your time with me and have allowed me to share my passion for painting with you! You are all a blessing to me and I hope you'll accept this small token of appreciation!

A recipe ~
I love this homemade salsa that my sister in law hooked me on many years ago.

2 cans black beans
2 cans corn
4 fresh tomotoes - chopped
1 large red onion or vidalia onion
Cilantro chopped - I love cilantro so I use a lot
1/2 bottle of italian dressing

Mix together and it's ready. I like to put mine in the fridge and eat it cold ~ tastes better to me after it has been chilled for a while. ENJOY!

So yesterday the boys and I did an experiment. We wanted to see how long it would take for an egg to cook outside.
We put the egg out at 4p.m.
We took this picture on the left at 4:30p.m. and the one below at 5p.m.
Got tired of going out in the heat & lost interest so we threw it away but were quite surprised how much it cooked in an hour.
I cannot believe the temperatures we and other parts of the country are having. Heat indexes are dreadful as well. KEEP COOL!

AND NOW A GIVEAWAY! well ALMOST!
This is my 199 post which means my post on Monday will be my 200th! So check back on Monday and see what I have as a giveaway prize. Let me know you stopped by today and I'll enter comments today in as well!

Have a wonderful weekend. I'm off to organize, paint, and enjoy my puppies and family!

Thanks for the award! I am very honored and I am so glad you started teaching. I have a surprise for you, but have to finish my house first. The salsa recipe sounds great and I think my Dad will love it, plus it sounds so easy. I can't believe how hot it is. I was dissapointed that my when my parents got here it was in the 80's and 90's instead of the cool 70's like the first week we were here. However, since it is 104 in Montgomery I guess 86 and 90 is still cooler, huh? Miss you BUNCHES! Love to Steven and the boys.

Hi Sandi, I'm glad to see that you're having a giveAway too. I'll check back next week.

My g'kids tried to cook an egg on the driveway a few years ago, the edges did actually start to cook! That was a hot summer. I could've cooked an egg this week!

The salsa sounds good. I think I'll try it.

Keep cool.

Sandy,
Thanks soooo much for the award!!!!! I am so excited! I hollowed for my husband to come look! I am now sitting here crying like a baby! I have never won much in my life. But since I have been coming to your classes I have won 3 of your paintings and now an award!
I have copied your recipe for the salsa. But i'm crying and I don't think i can make any right now. I promise I will soon as I can.
Thank you! God bless you!

Hey Chiquita (quite appropriate I thought with the salsa recipe and all!!)! I just wanted to let you know I still lurk around your blog daily and love every minute of it!! I thought, since Montgomery was mentioned in a previous post, I should let you know that it is hotter than crazy here! 104 - without the heat index!! Blessings and love to you and your family. Give Posh and Becks some snuggles for me. Miss you like crazy - we'll have to meet up sometime, somewhere soon! Love you, girl! Chris

A-h-h-h. That was such a nice surprise, getting the award. You have no idea how much it means to me and that it just made my day. Steph is in Atlanta so I called and told her. She is so-o-o excited too! Thanks for all you do for us (your students). My life is so much "richer" and "joyful" since I've been painting again and it's all because of YOU! As you already know, I love your blog and check it several times a day. The salsa recipe sounds great and I'll have to try it soon. The heat is unbelievable so stay inside and stay cool. I'm so-o-o ready for fall. Thanks again sweet friend! Hugs ~ Kim

Nothing I like better than a good giveaway! Woohoo! Hey, I was just saying to hubby today that I was craving a good salsa and hadn't found one lately. I will definitely try this next week. Still holding out on the rolls although they would be good with Sunday dinner...
