Week full of painting fun, an award and a giveaway!

This past week started out with painting Johnny Jump Ups which is in the Viola family and looks like a tiny pansy. It was a mother daughter class - not planned - but worked out that way!

Sue and her daughter came to their very first class

and did such a fabulous job on their projects.

Wednesday we painted cherries on glass and silly me forgot to take my camera so I asked the ladies to send me their pictures. I got one -

Jenny

(thanks for sending me the picture Jenny!)

Saturday we had two fun filled classes

We painted cherries in the first and we added a project piece to the class so that the ladies could see the difference of painting on glass and paper mache.

What I've been up to lately ~
It's been a busy week with kiddos, hubby finishing his last day at work (he officially retires from the USAF in November), playing with clay and painting.
So the week started off on Monday with dentist appts. for the boys and we knew it was coming but didn't anticipate it coming so quickly - my middle son is ready for braces!
They had a cancellation so he had his spacers put in on Monday and has his braces put on tomorrow ~ YIKES! Two in braces. I could have purchased a car for the amount that we've put in their mouths - sure do hope they appreciate their pretty teeth as they grow up. My middle guy is a candy/gum fanatic and I'm sure this is going to be a hard transition for him.

Yesterday, I purchased this clock on clearance at Hobby Lobby - it was orig. $20.00 and I got it on clearance for $4.00. It screamed at me loudly to become a sunflower so I had to comply and this is what I created.

Studio Home Dimensions Clay - Sunny Side Up and Butterscotch.

The other thing that has been screaming at me to do something with it is this cute little canvas and easel that my friend Lori gave me (thanks Lori)!

I finally got out my High Definition paint and came up with this little didy. It's a 2x2 canvas and is I think the smallest thing I've ever painted on.

I started painting earlier in the week and covered up a canvas I had painted with something else on it and decided that roses were going to be painted on it.

Then I painted this for a new friend of mine! She doesn't know it's coming so I hope she'll be surprised.

Friday I had a clay class and we created a vase with Studio HD Clay Holly & Berries. I knew we were going to finish early so we also created a hibiscus. It was so good to see these ladies - I haven't had a clay or paint class since the end of last month with my convention.

Speaking of my convention - here are some of the things I painted that week

I took a faux finishing/wall borders class with an amazing artist April Numamoto and this is what we painted.

I loved this class as I have all of this fabulous artists classes -Angela Anderson! She is amazing and one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. Her and her sister are absolute riots and always bring so much energy and FUN to convention.

Here are a couple of pieces we painted in Donna's Grand Session

I've also been getting ready for my classes the next couple of weeks. We're painting Johnny Jump Ups, Cherries, Calla Lilies, and Clematis. I cannot wait to see my ladies and I have several new students this month so I'm excited to share my passion for painting with them.

Have a fabulous day!

Super Education Convention 2008

Well, I'm back! I had a fabulous time and am still trying to recovery from lack of sleep. I took very few pictures this year which makes me sad but fortuantely there is a lady (Gwen) that always takes the most amazing photos each year and makes CD's for us!

Me & Nicole

I was thrilled when they announced that Nicole won for the BEST outfit at our Flower Power night! I knew she would.

Long time no post!

Hope you all had a fabulous 4th of July.
I went to Atlanta this past Thurs. - Sat. to visit with my sister in law and neice. We had so much fun hanging out. We ate at an amazing restaurant in Roswell and if you are ever in that area you have to go to the Fickle Pickle.

Isn't this picture just the funniest? Have you ever seen a squirrel just laying out? I was sitting at my sil's dining room table and turned to look out the window - ever have that feeling like someone is looking at you? Well, I did and it wasn't someone but something ~ this little fella having a lazy day on the deck. He'd get up and scratch but then it was right back into this position and every now and again would tilt his head over to see what I was doing.

As soon as I got home on Saturday I started organizing my portfolio and student paint project book to take down to the painting convention I'm going to tomorrow. I think I've told you before what a procrastinator I am but in case you've forgotten let me tell you exactly what I had to do. I had to print all the pictures that you've seen on my blog of my students (from the past year) at paint class and crop those and put them into an album so that I could take that with me tomorrow. It took 3 days to print, tons of $$ for printer ink (still cheaper I think then going to have them printed), one whole day to crop and 1 1/2 days to put them into my album. Why I don't do this step after each class is beyond me but it's now on a list of TO DO's so that I can start with my July 2008 classes and next year I won't be in the same boat. I also had to make sure that I had all the project folders that I give my students at each class so that I could put that in the binder that I'm taking to convention. If I didn't have it, I had to print it, laminate it and organize it alphabethically in the binder~ again for the whole year!! P*R*O*C*R*A*S*T*I*N*A*T*O*R!!

Here are some clay things that I created today for the silent auction at convention ~

I loved this mirror and loved it even more when I saw the clearance price of $4.08 at Hobby Lobby.
It was screaming cala lilies at me and actually looks so much better in person than the picture shows.

Iris

This basket ~ again on clearance at Hobby Lobby ~ was only $2.08
I wanted something tall on it and thought these sculpted iris flowers would be pretty on it.

Daisies and bee

Another basket that was only $2.08 at Hobby Lobby

The theme for the convention this year is Flower Power so I made this slide pendant out of Studio Clay and slid it on ~ isn't it just too cute! Of course I had to bling it up with some crystals and super glued those on in the middle.

On the subject of super glue ~ that is a product that I love because it's FAST drying, but when your fingers are together or stuck to a metal basket it's no fun! hehehe. I can't tell you the amount of super glue patches I have on my fingers and hands. Crazy stuff.

Well, I'm hoping to have some time during the convention to post if possible! Have a great day.
Blessings,
Sandy
