BIRTHDAYS, High Definition painting, and paint classes~
We've had two more March birthdays in our family ~ my oldest son turned 14 on the 14th! I was in Florida and had planned to be home but we painted later than expected so I came home on Saturday. Today is my nephew CHANDLER's 15th Birthday. Happy Birthday Chan!
I remember surprising my sister about a week after she had him. Her hubby and I had it all worked out and I flew in from Japan and he picked me up at the airport. He told her there was something in the car for her and there I was waiting in the carport for her. Chandler was a baby full of colic and I remember walking around in a circle through their living room, foyer, dining room, kitchen and back through the living room singing Amazing Grace to him - it really calmed him and I got quite the work out walking so much.

I'm having an absolute blast painting with this Plaid HD paint
I painted this topiary this week and if I do say so myself ~ I love it!
It's actually hanging in my bathroom right now but I'm not sure if I'll leave it unframed or not and move it to another place in the house.

At paint class this week we painted
Spring table runners and grapes.

This one I cut around the flowers to make the edge more interesting.

Alice

Sherry

Jenny

Jenny won the drawing and took home the project piece I painted in class. I dropped my brush on the canvas so I had to paint a dragonfly and butterfly over where the brush hit.

Roz

Earlier in the week we painted grapes on these fabulous crackled plates. They look so grecian to me on that gold crackled plate.

Roz won the drawing and took home the plate I painted in class.

Paula

Diana

Linda

This was Linda's first class ever and she did a beautiful job. She told me she probably has every
Donna Dewberry kit ever sold on QVC and hasn't opened a one as planned when she purchased them.

Last week in Florida ~ Charlie and I had all intentions of coming back to the hotel and doing some serious painting - batiks and landscapes ~ however, we were so whipped from the paint classes that we came back to the hotel and bathed and fell into our beds exhausted with no energy to paint antoher thing. We both stayed Friday evening because we actually went longer in the day than expected. We ended up eating at Cracker Barrell at like 8:30p.m. with Lori and Billie and we had a blast chatting and relaxing. We didn't make it back to our room until 10p.m. and then I jumped in the shower, dried my hair and just as I walked out the bathroom I heard the fire alarm going off. Charlie was sound asleep and I thought for sure it was a false alarm or a prank seeing that there were a lot a kids staying at our hotel for spring break. WELL, it wasn't! I opened the door and it was so smokey in the hall. I yelled for Charlie and I grabbed my purse and Charlie grabbed her purse but left her car keys and lap top in the room and we walked out to see 7 fire engines and a hotel full of quests standing outside and the hotel filling up with more and more smoke. There were also a lot of very drunk men outside! Some were carrying bottles of alcohol and others were cussing each other out - I thought for sure they had something to do with the fire alarm going off. However, it was actually a dryer in the hotel laundry service room (right across the hall from our room) that had caught on fire. It was quite comical and we were waiting for the news crews to show up so we could say hi to Donna on TV and laughing the entire time. We finally got back into the hotel about midnight and fell right into bed and watched Sex in the City.

Hope you and your family have a FABULOUS EASTER!!!
Sandy

OMG...a hotel full of smoke has to be scary! Hope your stuff didn't smell like smoke when you got home. I think those gold plates are great, and you picked the perfect thing to paint on them! Your students are doing fantastic. Hope The McTier's have a Happy Easter. Guess you can see on the tv that the Easter Bunny is bringing me 2-3 inches of snow for Easter weekend! ARRGGHHH........

Sandy,
What I want to know is -- Did you go out of the hotel right out of the shower with just a towel around you? Now that would have calmed those men down!!! Whoa!
But gladly you returned home safe! God was with you!
Love the grapes on the crackled plate! I painted roses on mine and it turned out good too. But you know my painting is not nearly as good as yours!
Tell the boys HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Get some rest girl! You gonna need it cause I am in 2 of your classes next week!! Yahoo!
God bless you!
