Home Sweet Home
Yesterday I had a small class but such a fun one ~ painting daisies with a mother & daughter and a mother & daughter in law!! Such a simple flower but one I always enjoy painting.

My plaque ~ it has stands that hold it up and can be painted on the other side ~ such a great little table centerpiece or a great entry way welcome!

wOils Certification April 26-28
This Certification I am teaching next month is filling up nicely!  Haven't painted with the wOils yet but really want to? Come learn how to not only paint with wOils but learn how to teach others how to paint with wOils!
Deadline to sign up for this Certification that I'm offering here in Middle Georgia ~ is March 25th!

Become Certified in Water mixable Oil paints made by Martin/F. Weber. wOil® paints have all the advantages of oil paints without the hassle of clean up and worries about the chemicals in oil paints. These paints have been specially fabricated to give that smooth, buttery consistency of oils with the convenience of clean up with water. Drying times are much faster than oils to. Donna has designed this
certification to provide you with the skills you need to be confident in achieving the painting
results you want.

The certification consists of 5 projects that incorporate techniques for wOils, evaluations of
your work and more. All surfaces, supplies and instructional notebook are included, just
bring your brush caddy or water basin.  Dewberry Crafts reserves the right to modify the agenda and class content.

Happy 18th Birthday Austin

Today our oldest turns 18 years old and as parents we couldn't be more proud of our oldest!
I woke up this morning thinking about the day he arrived and blessed our lives.
My hubby got up and picked my friend Kristina up at the airport and right as they walked in the door (around 8a.m.) I got up and well....let's just say I was crying down my legs ~ yep, my water broke.
I jumped in the shower not sure if it was my water breaking or my bladder no longer having control over itself and when I got out of the shower the water works continued so I figured it was time to head to the hospital.

It was quite a long day as he just wasn't quite ready to arrive yet. In fact, after potossin (SP?) and waiting all day he arrived just after 5p.m.  We got to bring our 9+ lb baby home a couple of days later and the nursery we had decorated with safari animals was finally complete.

We couldn't be more proud of what a wonderful young man our oldest has become! He is such a gentle soul. Shy most of the time, but so incredibly witty and funny when you get to know him! Always concerned about the happiness and feelings of others! From an early age and even to now ~ he comes and hugs me and asks how I'm doing. We've always bragged (like parents do ~ especially with your first) about how smart he is and we're so proud of how hard he has worked in school always making A's.
Hard to believe he's about to graduate High School and head off to college ~ thankfully he'll be in the same state and just an hours drive away ~ gonna be hard for me to handle I think but I'm also very exciited for this next stage of his adult life.

Happy Birthday Austin! We are so proud of you and love you very much!

Hope you have a great day!

Creative Painting ~ Vegas Convention 2012

Wow! What an awesome time we had in Vegas - so much so I forgot to get my camera out most days. (urgh!)  Had some awesome classes though and learned some really cool techniques!

I arrived on Monday and did some shopping for snacks, drinks, etc. and waited for Eileen and Deb to arrive. Once they did we went to the Hard Rock Cafe and had a wonderful dinner.

Tuesday, I taped my two segments for Interactive Artist Magazine - make sure to click on the button on the right hand side of my blog to check them out - you have to join to be able to see all the ART but it's worth every penny! Always have a fabulous time with Dawn & Christy!

Donna, Lori and Julie arrived on Tuesday and Donna and Lori had some taping to do so I just hung out until my first class with Trudy Beard - let me just say - it was as amazing as I thought it would be! We used wOils - which I'm really lovin' and it was awesome to finally meet her in person.

We painted this adorable piece with two birds and nest on a 4x12 canvas and then she drew names to see who would take hers home - LUCK ME ~ my name was drawn. YES, for those who know me - I did scream a loud "YES" when she said my name!

Wednesday, I took a Rosemaling class and I loved every minute of it. I could paint scrollwork all day long and loved all the little tricks and techniques in this class. Laura Hickman was awesome teacher.

I only signed up for two classes since this was my first year taking classes - I didn't want to overdue it! Wanted to enjoy the show and walk around Vegas a bit. A few of the classes that I would have loved to have taken were full so I know better now to sign up early if I want to get in on them.

Thursday, Lori and I did a make n take with Bobbie Campbell and I loved her techniques ~ especially her floating technique.  Was a fun little hour make n take and then walked the show again to see what I missed the first day.

We stayed at the Tropicana which has been renovated and was so much nicer than last year. It helped too that they had a Starbucks!!

Here are some other pics from around town!

I think it was Wednesday we went and ate at the Bellagio Buffet!AMAZING to say the least ~ expensive but worth going!

They had amazing glass sculptures and this glitzy horse in the lobby which made for a fab photo op!

Tuesday taping ~ with Christy

& Dawn ~ wearing our "wearable art" which you can learn how to create this year so make sure you sign up for Interactive Artist Magazine!

The last day of the show Donna's brother Jerry & his wife came to the show and he did this amazing sculpture with a saw ~ it's going to also be on Interactive Artist Magazine!  Loved watching it go from a stump to a bear in like no time.

Sadly, that is all the pictures I took.
I can't believe I didn't take one picture of us making bracelets. Donna and Julie went bead shopping and brought back some amazing beads for us to make these really cool bracelets.  I had to come home and make one right away so I wouldn't forget how to make them! Very cool and can't wait to share with my family and friends!

My house has been occupied all day with workers putting in new fittings in all of our pipes. They put in copper fittings when the house was built and well - after another leak in the water heater and seeing the corrosion on the fittings it was time to bite the bullet and get it done. Fun Fun - NOT!

Now back to painting and getting ready for my classes this month and next! Will share pictures soon!

Hope you have a great week!
