Big Canvas painting with my friend Donna D.

So, as most of you know I get to go down to Florida once a month and see my friend Donna and create with her! We are dangerous & magical in 3 days together - working hard creating and having fun! At the end of this past week she had a Big Canvas painting event and I got to stay the first day of it and help Donna out. We had so much fun but we were so exhausted around 3p.m. took so much out of us and the ladies that came to paint!

Here we are in some of our hand painted shirts! They are so incredibly easy! In fact, I'm teaching a class this Saturday on how to create them!

Joanne and Donna

Here we all are just after lunch - full and all of us were so tired! Tambrey and I are holding up a painting that Donna created on two 30x40 canvas's - it is absolutely gorgeous!

A little stage but that is really how we all felt! lol

Some snapshots throughout the day while people were creating!!

Have a great week!

From this to this!
Great thing about paint is if you don't like it or parts of it you can paint over it! I wasn't thrilled with the background and the overall feel to me screamed sealife - not sure why - but it did. So I changed it and covered up other things that were bugging me as well. It's now up in the gallery - just off I-75 in Byron, GA.

It's painted on a 36 x 48 gallery wrapped canvas.
Have a fabulous day!

Painting Hydrangeas and playing catch up!

Oversized Canvas Painting
I finished the 24x36 I was painting with some surprise.....hydrangeas - again I know! I do love them though and think they are one of my favorite flowers ever - fresh or dried!

Playing catch up after being away so much this summer! I thought I posted these pictures from our Poppy class where the ladies learned how to flip the petals but I couldn't find it anywhere on my blog so I guess that means I didn't post them.

First day of school went well for the boys. In fact the older two came home and said now we have a reason to sing the song by Kiss "Hot for Teacher" they both have a "hot" teacher this year they said - great - note the sarcasm there - had the long talk last night about boundaries and respectfulness which they know but it was a good reminder of how they should behave. hehehe
Was also informed by my almost 14 year old after asking him "how was my baby's first day back at school?" NOT to call him my baby anymore as he is almost 14 and not a baby anymore. :( Told him he was right and I wouldn't call him that anymore but he won't hear me whispering it in my head huh? He'll always be my baby!
Back to painting and getting ready for the boys to be home from school.
Have a great day!

Another large painting

I have to remember that not all of my family and friends are on facebook! Some of you had emailed asking where my finished painting was and I forgot I only posted it on FB. Anyway, here it is ~ I love the way it turned out. It's up at the Gallery in the Peach Shops of Byron waiting to find a new home!

This one is on a 48x48 gallery wrapped canvas. I have a 48x60 on my easel at the moment waiting to be painted and a 24x36 that I painted the background on today and hope to get painted tomorrow.

My boys started school today! Can't remember the last time our house was all up before 6a.m. but we were. Youngest got on the bus at 6:40a.m. - that is sooooo early!! My two other sons actually rode off in their jeep to school. It was a sad but happy moment - sad that they have gotten old enough to be able to drive themselves to school but happy that they can finally drive themselves places!! This summer vacation went by way too fast ~ seems like they just got out ~ they were not too ready to go back but I think excited about seeing all of their friends.

Anyway, thought I'd get more done today that I did - however - two blog posts in one day p YIPPPEE!! I've been so slack in posting! Managed to get the shirts in the post below painted this a.m. and have lots to get done for my classes this month before heading to Florida again.

Hope you have an outstanding day!!

Fabric Painting Italian Style by Marzia

This is my friend Marzia ~ isn't she just too cute!! She came to Florida last month with her beau Enzo (everyone at the Summit swooned over him ~ especially when he spoke with his Italian accent). One night after the painting day with Donna was over, Marzia taught everyone a really cool technique on fabric!! It was amazing to say the least and the room was a buzz with all the possibilities!!

I didn't paint a shirt that evening as I was getting ready for our last day at the Summit ~ but I certainly went home that evening to my friend Donnas and painted one! A lot of people wore their shirts the last day with such pride! They were all so pretty and so different!

Here I am with two of my friends Deb and Eileen (two fabulous ladies from The Villages in Florida) wearing our newly created shirts!

I loved Marzia's technique so much I just had to come home and plan a class around it! So, if you live local and want to come the class is on Saturday, August 21st. You can sign up for my classes through my website here: Sandy McTier

The hot pink one turned out to be one of my favs - can you see the heart, wings and halo!
Hope you have a great day!
